Martyn at yougig has a great studio setup with multiple options in a quirky setting on the river, the perfect environment to let the creativity flow. He offered great advice for my project and delivered what I wanted. I would definitely recommend yougig.

YOUGIG is a fantastically friendly and welcoming environment for bands of all sizes. The owner Martyn is always more than happy to help and they have fantastic recording facilities both audio and video. It’s also set in a beautiful location in Shoreham by Sea. We feel very much part of the YOUGIG family.
The Desperate Dan Band:
Would like to thank Martyn and Yougig for the excellent result produced in the filming and audio of our live CD ‘Have we had dinner yet!
Over the last few years I’ve used Yougig’s services and venue for band rehearsals, filming videos, songwriting and mentoring sessions and have always found it to be the perfect place for myself and the musicians I’ve worked with to be creative inspired and focused. The location, backline and overall setup are perfect for musicians who want to properly get stuck into getting strong and positive musical work done. Yougig rocks!

I’ve been using You Gig for rehearsing and recording for a couple of years now. It’s my first choice for any kind of music! Great atmosphere and plenty of equipment to satisfy all styles! Martyn is a fantastic host and the vibe on board is really cool… honestly my first choice for recording and playing anytime! Totally rocks!
Jay Sturland – Drummer, singer, songwriter
YOUGIG allows you to record a live performance video with quality sound from different positions. Martyn has extensive knowledge and his turnaround is very quick. Great value for money, highly recommended!
Jerry Clavier – singer – Gyratory Allstars
We’ve been using yougig for writing and rehearsing for several years, one of its big appeals is a great combination of studio sound and a home atmosphere, in a boat on a river with a backdrop that’s simply unrivalled.
Joe, The Dials
Myself and the other members of the band are very impressed by your set up. Its a friendly, relaxing experience, backed up by your recording expertise.
Also; being on a boat on the River Adur…..what’s not to like?
John Finch – Singer, guitarist, songwriter
“A gem of a place to rehearse or record. Great gear, awesome vibe overlooking the water and good refreshments on offer! Highly recommended.”
Olivia (Ruby & The Revelators)
Martyn has an amazing rehearsal and recording space. The yougig boat is simply an inspirational place, and I look forward to rehearsing there as often as possible. Fully equipped for audio and visual recording too..I would wonder ….why go anywhere else!
Louise Maggs – Guitarist
When working on pre production for the Matt Mitchell & The Coldhearts record the houseboat was the perfect setting to get inspired. A perfect amount of space to set up the full band and run through all elements and dynamics of the music. That inspiration led onto using the unique houseboat again to film parts of the 2nd single video ‘Home’.
Professional and fun live recording experience in a unique recording environment. I highly recommend!
Great space in a beautiful location with easy access. Martyn the owner is super friendly, helpful and supportive. All the equipment is provided and set up ready to go – it’s even got funky lighting for that added rock n roll vibe.
We had a great time recording our album with Martyn and are very pleased with the final results. He’s a lovely and generous guy to work with and did everything to make us feel welcome and at home as well as doing a fabulous job on our album. The boat is a fun and inspiring place to record and rehearsal and I highly recommend it.
Stevie Watts – Keyboardist, composer
I was so happy to use Yougig to record video for my band Toneheadz recently. Knowing Martyn for many years I knew we would be in very capable hands.
The video session was very professional but very relaxed at the same time. I was amazed at how great the studio is in terms of space and decor. The lighting is very effective also.
The result speaks for itself! Fabulous visual and sound. I certainly will be very happy to record more videos at Yougig in the future.
Tony Qunta – Guitarist, singer, songwriter – Toneheadz
“Thank you, really great. I’ve seen Richard live a few times and agree that he’s a fantastic host, but you’ve captured his warmth and humour. It sounds beautiful as well…”

“Martyn that is beautiful! Great sound, nice angles, good choice of cross fades. Great job! Thanks again, I am so happy and grateful to you for the excellent work- I didn’t dare imagine it would come out so well. I have booked Martyn and his team to video two important gigs of mine and I’m so glad I did, as the results have generated a lot of positive comments and also work. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone. He’s a warm creative soul with the hard-won skills of a BBC sound engineer, so the audio mix is spot on and the visuals are nicely done too, with plenty of angles to choose from.”
John G Smith – Pianist, Music Director and Composer
“Absolutely blown away with this. The sound is incredible and it is filmed beautifully.
It is honestly so good I would also like it as individual mp3’s if possible.
David Morgan – Music Manager – Sophie Morgan
“ I hired Martyn and YouGig to record my opera on the basis of his email and website. I had never met him.
But as an ex- BBC producer myself I have worked with lots of engineers and you know immediately whether they can do the job… or not. As soon as I met Martyn there was NO doubt he was totally on top of it all. Not only this, he is a musician himself which invaluable. As we were recording my opera live it was a ‘seat of the pants’ job – with no time even to check levels. Technically this was quite a challenge but I knew Martyn had got it sorted. But it was not until I received the DVD that I realised what a terrific job he had done. Imaginative, and technically very secure and creative….. and all this after I did not let him put his mikes exactly where he wanted in deference to our audience! I have no hesitation in recommending YouGig.”
Michael Brand – Composer & Music Publisher
G & M Brand Publications Ltd
“My venue has partnered with Yougig and offer their services to all our bands, being not only so affordable but the product is fabulous and Martyn is a top bloke and a pleasure to work with which can sometimes be the downfall in the media industry. Couldn’t recommend yougig and Martyn enough.”.
Oz Bayldon – Founder/Trustee- www.Music4children.org
Operations Manager- “The White Lion” Hostel and Live Music Bar, London, SW16 1BB,
“As a BBC man Martyn has always had my trust on all things sonic. Now its great to see that his brilliant idea “Yougig” is flourishing, mainly because of his knowledge and experience but also because he’s great to work with. And that means everything in a live situation.”
Richard Durrant – Concert Guitarist
DipRCM ARCM FLCM,
“The guys from YouGig were brilliant. A six camera shoot, post production, and a great result for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended!”
“Such a gifted company to work with. Martyn is the ever professional, and made the band very welcome. It was a great fun experience and the results show in the video. I would not hesitate in recommending Yougig to any hard working musician/band”.
Gary Wheeler (Billy)
Bad Billy Band,
“I’m pretty sure that the video of “Laura Ward and the Risen Road” at the Duke of Wellington, was one of Yougig’s first ventures. It’s a testament to Martyn’s skill as an engineer that we’re still using this for promotional purposes two years down the line, and we will be using Martyn again in the future. Not only did he capture a quality sound from the instruments and amplification, his camera work and lighting conveys the feel and atmosphere of an intimate venue. For the band, on a technical level it was a new experience, but one that benefited and enriched us. I would thoroughly recommend Martyn, primarily because of his expertise and also, quite importantly, because he’s damn fun to work with.”
Matt Szul – Composer – Guitarist and Music Teacher,
“Great day in the studio yesterday. Looking forward to another one today. yougig.co makes things eeeasy”.
“I worked with yougig with the aim to have 3 songs as live music videos to promote. We had 5 different camera angles plus another camera to get other shots such as audience participation and instrumental solo close ups. The result was exciting, and the videos looked professional and expensive – and the price was competitive. Thanks Martyn and yougig.co!”
Session Guitarist & Tutor,
“I learned a lot from this experience and I’m certain that not only will the video serve its purpose of successfully promoting the band, but we can use it to improve our performances too. I’m already thinking about the next one!”
Andrew Mitchener – Bassist and bandleader “Eel Fish Parsley“,
“Martyn, you sir are an absolute feckin legend! When I set out to do this, I didn’t know how it was going to be percieved by the engineer – not that it was vital to me but I was hoping that the engineer would “get it”. And oh my goodness, you totally got it! It was an absolute pleasure to work with you. It was also really nice to meet such an excellent fella.
Thankyou fella, you made this song better than I could have possibly dreamed.
With my kindest regards chap,”
